Junior Event Camp - July 15-19, 2024

Junior Event Camp at Hitching Post Farm is for kids aged 8-18 who are either actively eventing or ready to begin eventing. This is a 5 day camp with the option to camp at our farm under the guidance of several counselors in our very fun camping area situated in our pasture.

HPF’s Junior Event Camp is designed to fully prepare each student to compete in the schooling trial , whether they are competing at a new level or for the first time. Campers will take part in 2 lessons per day in groups of no more than 5 riders. Although the Junior Event Camp has grown, there is still flexibility to work in groups as small as 2 or individually, if the need arises. We take pride in our ability to make each camper feel confident, prepared and challenged while maintaining a fun and friendly environment. Laurie Hudson and Sally Scheindel teach cross-country and dressage respectively and are accompanied by other instructors who often include Kylie Lyman, Janine McClain, Keith Robinson and Taylor Faccio.

Each day campers are expected to take care of all aspects of their horses, as well as help and encourage other campers. Feeding, stall cleaning, grazing, turnout, tack cleaning and equipment will be camper responsibilities. Throughout the week, campers will also help with various aspects of preparation for the schooling trial.

We have a handful of counselors on premise to help ensure that campers are happy and comfortable. Our barn is equipped with showers and we try to go for a swim each evening. Homemade meals are prepared in our “barn kitchen” or at Laurie’s house and we are able to accommodate anyone with food restrictions.

Hitching Post Farm is not able to offer horses for campers. It has become difficult to find and prepare horses and we are sadly not able to continue this service.

Camp is $1100 which includes the Schooling Trial entry cost on July 20. Each student must sign up with Blue Horse Entries prior to camp. Divisions can be adjusted during the week of camp.

Liability Waivers must be completed with Camp Form.
